Tell us about the Kayaking
This was so amazing and signing up for kayaking was one of the best decisions of the trip. We got to see a unique perspective of the locations and our guides Sophie and Ewan were so informative and always made sure we were safe. I would highly recommend this to others looking for a special way to experience Antarctica to join the kayaking program.
Tell us about the Magellan Explorer
The Magellan Explorer was better than we could have ever expected. The cabin was always spotless, our room manager Edwin always did a fantastic job and was so friendly to us. The minibar was always restocked our room and our bed always made so nicely. The food was incredible and it was mindblowing how the chefs were able to make such amazing dishes and never repeated them during the 16 days onboard. The crew in the restaurant always remembered our names and what drinks we liked and made sure we were taken care of at all times without being overbearing. I would absolutely choose this vessel again.
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
The zodiac excursions were great, we felt safe at all times and the crew did a great job getting us on and off the zodiacs without incident. We got to see some amazing sights from the zodiac and learned a lot from the expedition team about the history, animals and topography.
Tell us about the expedition team
The expedition team was very knowledgeable, experienced and very friendly. Many of them sat with us at meals and we got to know them very well. They also took photos for us on excursions and made sure we got a copy of them. We loved Pelin, Wei, Karen, Sophie and Ewan among all the great staff onboard. Everyone did a fantastic job and made our experience so special.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Choosing the right vessel and the proper company is the most important factor in planning for this trip.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
This experience has given me so much more love and respect for nature. I have been so awestruck by the beauty and insanity that it has to offer, I can't believe I got to experience this magical place. I also never thought I would enjoy learning through lectures while on vacation but I did.
